INDUSTRIAL METAL SUPPLY CO. NAMES NEW KEY EXECUTIVE TO EXPAND ITS LEADERSHIP IN METALS DISTRIBUTION AND MANUFACTURING SERVICES

Industry Veteran Martin J. Mechsner Joins IMS to Continue the Company's Upward Trajectory of Success and Support the Expansion of Specialized Production Services

Sun Valley, CA, June 08, 2008 - Industrial Metal Supply Co., the largest distributor of metals in the Southwest, has hired a prominent metals and manufacturing industry veteran to manage the expansion of its metals finishing and fabrication division.

Martin J. "Marty" Mechsner, president and CEO of the Small Manufacturers' Institute (SMI), president of Schober's Machine and Engineering (SME), and adjunct professor of Technology and Mechanical Engineering at the Cal State University Campus in Los Angeles, joined IMS on June 9, 2008 as the new General Manager and Chief Engineer of its Fabrication Division.

Mechsner's appointment underscores the trajectory of success for the company, now celebrating 60 years since it started business in California in 1948. Mechsner will champion IMS's forward-looking strategy of providing innovative, time-saving services to its customers in California and Arizona.

"Marty Mechsner has a wealth of knowledge and experience in defining strategic direction and managing tactical execution of manufacturing engineering operations, and a proven track record of helping small manufacturing companies reduce costs and optimize their manufacturing processes in the supply chain," said Eric Steinhauer, president of IMS. "Marty's considerable and varied skills will help us strengthen our business relationships with manufacturing and design firms, welders and fabricators, and machine shops throughout the southwest."

In addition to his positions at SMI, SME and Cal State, Mechsner has served as a consulting engineer for Advanced Entertainment Technologies and Hydraulic Press Engineers. He's an aerospace engineering advisor for El Camino Community College, and was previously the high-tech small-business representative on the Los Angeles County Community Development Corporation's loan committee. Mechsner is the only west coast educator certified by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers to instruct courses for Certified Manufacturing Technologists and Engineers. He has taught classes in electronics, manufacturing and robotics at El Camino College, Pierce College, LA Valley College, San Bernardino Valley College, Mt. Sac College, Chaffey College and West Hills College.

"There's no question that Marty, with his extensive background and many important business, association and education contacts in our industry, will help IMS to expand its already strong position in the metals distribution market," Steinhauer added. "This is the beginning of a new era of innovative service offerings for our company."
