Aluminum Sheet Metal
Defined as anything thinner than 1/4", aluminum sheet metal is extremely important in industries that depend on a high strength-to-weight ratio, such as aerospace. Produced using the same methods as aluminum plates — by pushing ingots through rollers until they reach an ideal thickness — the final product is light, strong, and easy to recycle. At Industrial Metal Supply, we carry a wide array of aluminum sheet profiles, gauges, and alloys, including painted and perforated sheets. Primarily offered in 5052, 3003, and 6061 aluminum, each alloy has unique strengths and weaknesses. Stronger than pure aluminum, 3003 alloy keeps costs low and remains a formable, weldable material that is still practical, while 6061 is the strongest option (but less formable). Meanwhile, 5052 aluminum sheet metal strikes a balance between formability and strength.
